Training ausgefallen ist\u201c, sagt der geb\u00fcrtige Mainzer r\u00fcckblickend. Er hatte die Idole schlie\u00dflich vor der Haust\u00fcr und wohnte gegen\u00fcber des alten Mainzer Bruchwegstadions. Es ist nicht das erste Mal, dass sich Christians Beharrlichkeit und sein Optimismus auszahlt. Die Eigenschaften werden ihn neben harter Arbeit und der Unterst\u00fctzung seiner Eltern durch die Karriere tragen. Sein Vater schlief von der U15 bis zur U17 gar im Auto, wenn Christian trainierte: \u201eEr hat mich zum Training gefahren und da er LKW-Fahrer ist und Sp\u00e4tschicht hatte, musste er immer im Auto schlafen.\u201c<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-jw6a6suh-e75a2f9902c834cf7410c4590ae8b2f1 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Noch als Regionalliga-Torwart der Mainzer Reserve schnupperte Christian erstmals Bundesliga-Luft. Ein Einsatz blieb ihm aber verwehrt. Also wechselte er zu Darmstadt 98 und, obwohl er den Ex-Mainzer Christian Wetklo vermeintlich vor sich hatte, wurde Mathenia die Nummer eins, machte alle Spiele und stieg mit Darmstadt als bester Zweitligakeeper \u00fcberraschend auf. Lange galt er als ruhig, doch vor allem im N\u00fcrnberger Abstiegsjahr \u00fcbernahm er Verantwortung und wurde \u00f6fters laut in der Kabine \u2013 sicher durch seine guten Leistungen auch mit viel Selbstvertrauen ausgestattet: \u201eMan reift mit der Karriere, die letzten vier Jahre war ich nur im letzten Drittel der Bundesliga, ich kenne die Situation.\u201c<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-jw6a6suh-e75a2f9902c834cf7410c4590ae8b2f1 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Nach den zwei Jahren in Darmstadt wechselte Christian n\u00e4mlich zum Hamburger SV, bei dem er in der ersten Saison hinter dem oft verletzten Ren\u00e9 Adler viele Einsatzzeiten bekam und in der Folgesaison einen packenden Zweikampf mit U21-Europameister Julian Pollersbeck lieferte. Nach dem HSV-Abstieg folgte der Wechsel zum 1. FC N\u00fcrnberg und Christian war wieder zuerst als Nummer zwei eingeplant. Doch obwohl der Club auch absteigen musste, war es ab dem achten Spieltag seinen Paraden zu verdanken, dass der Kampf um den Klassenerhalt f\u00fcr die N\u00fcrnberger so lange offengeblieben war.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-jw6a6suh-e75a2f9902c834cf7410c4590ae8b2f1 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Angebote gab es danach zuhauf, doch Christian, der nun auch erstmals Vater wurde, entschied sich f\u00fcr einen Verbleib in N\u00fcrnberg \u2013 nicht nur weil sein Kind im Club-Krei\u00dfsaal zur Welt kam. Er mag Traditionsvereine, ein emotionales Umfeld pusht ihn. \u201eWir sind sicher, dass Christian die Klasse hat, eine \u00c4ra zu pr\u00e4gen\u201c, sagte Sportvorstand Robert Palikuca \u2013 so gro\u00df war die Identifikation mit dem neuen Fanliebling nach nur einer Saison.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-jw6a6suh-e75a2f9902c834cf7410c4590ae8b2f1 ' Social-Media-Kan\u00e4len, \u00fcberhaupt fanden die Medien schon viele Beschreibungen f\u00fcr ihn: Er wirke wie ein \u201egro\u00dfer, kr\u00e4ftiger Magnet\u201c, sei der \u201eTurm in der Abwehrschlacht\u201c und oft in seiner Karriere die \u201ezweite Geige\u201c gewesen \u2013 aber mit \u201edruckvollem Crescendo\u201c.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\"
