“With 100% you push the ball around the post”

Alexander Schwolow is one of the most talented goalkeepers in the first German Bundesliga and the best example that hard work and pure passion pay off. We met him in Berlin and talked to him about his daily training motivation, the step from amateur to professional football and of course his goalkeeper gloves.
“It’s only four or five kilometres from my front door to the training ground, but with the traffic here it takes me ten to 15 minutes.” Alex has been playing for Hertha BSC Berlin for a few weeks now. New city, different dimensions – and yet much has remained the same for “Schwolli”: his irrepressible ambition, his sympathetic appearance and his meticulous attitude when it comes to his goalkeeper gloves.

For Alex it is evident: “My working tool must be perfect”. If a glove is not perfectly tailored to the requirements and preferences of a goalkeeper, in the worst case his game may suffer. For this reason he attaches great importance to the choice of gloves. Because the top maxim for a strong performance is trust in his material: “You have to be there 100% in the decisive moments. Only when everything fits, you push the difficult shots around the post.”

The most important features of Alex’s goalkeeper gloves are the grip and the cut, followed by the look. He says he is not particularly vain, but if his equipment looks good in addition to the SUPERGRIP+ and his favourite cut, he is of course particularly pleased. His opinion of the new PURE ALLIANCE PURPLE: “It looks pretty cool. The black palm is a real eye-catcher”.
When it comes to his career, Alexander Schwolow is not stuck in the past. Even if it is “perhaps a mistake”, as he himself admits, he does not keep his old gloves. He has a small, secret collection of goalkeeper gloves from only a few former idols and colleagues.
“Give your best in training every day and deliver your best in the game.”
More important for Alex is the future, because he still has big goals: “It would be a dream to play in the Champions League, to compete with the best.” Of course the German national team would also be something he would be “mega happy” about, but Alex knows about the tough competition and keeps his feet on the ground. For him, a nomination would simply be the result of his daily work. And that’s why he sticks to it: “Give your best every day in training and deliver your best in the game – then you automatically recommend yourself for higher challenges.”
