Fabian Bredlow
Fabian Bredlow from Berlin further and further south. Today, the keeper is in goal for VfB Stuttgart.
From the youth team of RB Leipzig, via RB Salzburg, Hallescher FC and 1 FC Nürnberg, Fabian found his way to Stuttgart.
We had a short interview with Fabian Bredlow. He talks about the goalkeeper position, the feeling after a win and his goalkeeper gloves.
What is special about the goalkeeper position?
Actually, everything is special. A goalkeeper can not play in any other position but a field player can do so. That means we train much more specifically and for me the goalkeeper is the most important position in soccer. If you do not concede a goal, you can not lose a game. You can save your team the win with two or three good saves, but you can also cost your team the win with one mistake. It is a fine line between being a hero and being a fool, and that is what makes the position so special.
How do you feel as a goalkeeper when a game has been won?
Full of endorphins, very happy and sometimes relieved. There are also games that are tough, where you think to yourself “are we going to win this game today or not?” and when you win the game at the end, you sit in the dressing room and are just happy.
What is important to you about your glove?
Quite a lot, to be honest. Of course it is important to me that I have good grip, that I have a good feeling in the glove. The glove must not pinch anywhere on my hand, and it must not be too big. It simply has to sit really well on my hand and I have to have the feeling at all times that I can hold onto every ball, which I definitely have with the uhlsport gloves.
